People who are asthmatic, the wall of airways swell and become oversensitive. So, patients become sensitive to air pollution, smoke, mold and some of the chemical sprays. Allergens are also responsible for causing asthma. Respiratory infections like cold are also responsible for infections. When the airways overreact, then it results in narrowing. Such condition ends with the restricted air flow into and out of the lungs and so patient feels difficulty in breathing. This irritation ends with cell growth that makes mucus. Extra mucus gives way to coughing and with the passing of time; the irritation gives Lung-Damage-inCOPDway to thickening of airways and results in scars. Not only this but also thickened walls restrict the air flow and patient feels difficulty in breathing, this is a condition what is known as chronic constructive bronchitis. Patients with emphysema have weak lung tissues and at the same time walls of air sacs break down. Usually oxygen from the air goes into the blood by air sac walls. Emphysema patient have ruined air sac walls and so very less oxygen pass into the blood and results in shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing.
